Meet my sweetheart.
I don’t take photos of her often enough. I think most assume that as a photographer I must have a million photos of her, but as I tell everyone, she’s my most difficult client 😉 I’m no one new and interesting to her like most other kids see me, I’m just mom… no big deal. Usually I’m lucky if I can get her to look at my camera for more than a few seconds, and forget about keeping in her one spot for long enough for my camera to focus.
But this day was different. As she woke up from her nap a couple weeks after her birthday, I noticed it had just started snowing. Perfect! It had been on my mind that I should really do a 2 year shoot for her. I hustled to dress her in her boots, hat and new cute red coat, and we dashed outside. Having just woken up from a nap and had a snack she was in a great mood, not to mention thrilled that we were going outside to play in the snow. We walked into the open field across from our house, and I let her play. I realized my big mistake other times I wanted to take her photo… trying too hard to get her to look at the camera and not letting her be herself and capture the candid moments. My incessant nagging to look at the camera had never worked in the past, and only made her get upset. My trick on this day… obnoxious singing and dancing. She thought I was hilarious, I was just hoping my neighbors weren’t watching.
For Azria ~ Happy Birthday baby girl, Momma loves you.
